NOTE: The reason why you want to use Freezers (and NOT shelves) in your cold-storage room, is because the Freezers have better storage capacity versus the shelves, as well as being more immersive, and can still be turned on individually, for those who haven't unlocked the breakthrough technology to protect against solar flares. Typically you'll want 2-4 heat-pumps set at "-10 degrees" to keep the room freezing, depending on how large the room is. you can store as many freezers in that room as you want, and you can turn the power OFF on all of them, and instead rely in the "heat-pumps" (ductless air-conditioners/heaters, or mini-splits) to do the cooling for everything in that room, which will save you energy overall. Initially you'll be running the freezers individually in "ON" mode.īut later on, once you can build a concrete room, or better yet, a carbon room. KITCHEN & DINING DETAILS: have the kitchen area and dining area adjacent to one another, and as close to the cold-storage room as possibleĬOLD STORAGE DETAILS: use freezers for 95% of cold-storage purposes. RECREATION DETAILS: simply have it as close to the bedrooms as possible, so all survivors can use them going to/from their bedrooms to the crafting areas.ĬRAFTING DETAILS: place all crafting benches and their respective crafting storage in the same area, as tightly as possible, to minimize travel time. If two of your survivors are a "couple", simply put their beds next to each other, so their pillows are side-by-side in the same bedroom. Also there shouldn't be any crafting stations in the bedrooms, or they are no longer counted as bedrooms. This reduces time wasted traveling to or from the stored resources and where they are going to be used.īEDROOM DETAILS: for maximum happiness, bedrooms should be at least 20 spaces in total size. The key thing is to have the resources as close to where they are going to be used as possible. It also wouldn’t hurt if your resources are sacrificed in favor of protecting your Town Center when you’re placing your Catapults, Towers, or Garrisons.For your Housing, you will want 3 separate buildings, or, 3 separate areas in a single building, joined together by hallways. Other General Placement Tipsįor the Classical Age, you’ll want to have your Barracks in the southeast part of your map, which will keep the building further away from enemies. This would make it harder for enemies to get to and to destroy. Your Decoy Buiildings Should Be Far Awayĭecoy buildings are very effective in throwing enemies off, but they should be placed strategically, preferably far away in the other corner of your map. When it comes to placing Wonders, especially the Acropolis, they should be set up in a way that they affect as many buildings as possible, particularly the Garrisons. Acropolis Placement Is EverythingĪctually, this applies for any Wonder you’re using for defensive purposes. Also make sure to upgrade your walls regularly, and build your first Catapult as soon as possible. For starters, your walls should have at least two chambers, because if enemies break part of your single-chambered walls, that will render everything else useless. What basics are these, pray tell? These are fundamental concepts that apply regardless of which age you’re in. A third variable would be your preferred play style – you may either be trying to protect your resources above others, but then again you may be trying to make sure you don’t lose too many medals by protecting your Town Center. If you have Acropolis, as far as wonders go, you’re already well-covered on the defensive end. For one, the nation you’re playing as may play a role in your design – the Japanese, for instance, have a Town Center that can defend itself. There are several variables that may determine your eventual base layout.
